Hi Beauties!
Today's post is all about changing your life around for the better. Ever sit back and wonder why you're not moving ahead in life, why you're not achieving your ultimate goals or why you're feeling stuck. I have all the answers for you here today in this blog post.
I have struggled a lot through life, just like every other person on earth, things have never come easy for me. I have always had to work hard to achieve my goals and pursue my dreams. Which I am ok with. Why? Because achieving your goals and dreams is so much better when you have to put your blood, sweat and tears into them. If things came easy to us, it wouldn't be as amazing.
We are all on this journey, this path through life. And sometimes the journey may be a bit rocky or maybe a not a straight path or maybe a straight incline... but in the end, we will get there. With hard work and dedication, you can transform your life and mold it into whatever your heart desires.
Life is such a mental game. You need to have the mindset to make your life better in order to achieve it.
This post has 7 tips to help you better your life. I challenge you to try applying one tip to your life every day for one week. After the week is finished, you might feel a little better, it might be easier to breathe and easier to truck through life.. but this is a lifestyle. You need to change your lifestyle in our to maintain a better life.
If I can do this, so can you 🙂
So here are 7 ways to better your life:
Better Your Life #1: Eliminate Negativity From Your Life
I am such a huge believer in the idea that beautiful things happen when you distance yourself from negativity. Negativity is such an energy drainer. It literally sucks the life out of you.
There are tons of ways you can eliminate negativity from your life and I talk about them in my post "7 habits to eliminate negativity from your life". I live by these tips and always find myself referring back to this post when I am having a rough time with negative thoughts or negative people in my life.
My favourite tip for eliminating negativity from your life is letting go of the past and moving forward. I use to be such a grudge holder. If someone did me wrong or upset them, I would never forgive them or forget what they did. It would always replay in my mind whenever I saw that person or would instantly make my stomach drop. But that had to change. Instead of holding on to resentment, anger or even thoughts of revenge, I started embracing forgiveness and moving on from it. Don’t stew over people or things that really do not deserve your time.
Better Your Life #2: Get Your Beauty Sleep
Everyone knows that getting enough sleep is super important for SO MANY REASONS. But you already know that. For as long as I can remember, my parents have always expressed the importance of getting 8 hours of sleep. They would always encourage me to go to bed early. Which I am so happy they did.
Getting enough sleep has allowed me to become a morning person, which is the best thing for my life.
There are so many reasons why becoming a morning person is important to better your life. In my post "How To Become A Morning Person" I talk about all the ways you can get better quality sleep to help you wake up in the morning with a smile instead of 'I need my coffee NOW'.
Better Your Life #3: Work Smarter Not Harder
This is something one of my senior nurses taught me when I first started working at the hospital. I don't remember the exact scenario, but her saying "work smarter not harder" really stuck in my head.
Why would you work super hard on something that can be done easier if you were smarter about it? This doesn't necessarily mean taking short cuts or half a$$ing a job. It means thinking it through before you start a task so you don't have to work harder to get it done. I give some examples of this in my post "18 ways to Positively Transform Your Life".
One example that comes to mind is grocery shopping. Instead of having to make several trips to the grocery store throughout the week, make a master list on the day you're going shopping. Look in your fridge, analyze your cupboards. Make one grand list of everything you KNOW you need. Doing this will save you from having to go back a few days later to buy something you forgot. Work smarter by preparing for your grocery shopping, rather than using up your valuable time throughout the week by returning to the grocery store. Right!?
Better Your Life #4: Stop Procrastinating - Get It Done
I use to procrastinate SO MUCH. Like it was an actual issue for me. It would cause me so much stress because I would keep putting things off, my list of things I would have to do would grow, and I would just break down from stress overload.
Then one day, I said enough is enough. I started changing up my game. I started getting things done as soon as I could, and wow did it ever make a difference for me. I was able to start focusing my time on other things not on my to-do list because my to-do list was nonexistent!
I loved how it felt so much that I wrote an entire post on "Tips for a Productive and Happy Life". Make sure you check out this post for all my tips on how to get things done in an efficient yet easy way. To better your life you really do need to get things done. Knock them off your to-do lists so they don't knock you down.
Better Your Life #5: Don't Sweat The Small Stuff
I am pretty sure they write entire novels on this with different topics. That's how important it is! There are a lot of things in our life that we tend to stress and obsess over... and a lot of these things don't deserve our time.
I talk a lot about this in my post "6 Smart Decisions For A Happier Tomorrow" because it is such an easy fix that can really impact your life in a massive way!
When I am super worried about something, I always ask myself 'Is worrying about this going to change it?', 'Is it within my control?' and 'is it too early to start worrying about it?'. When I ask myself these questions, I usually am able to fluff the stress off a little easier. Focus on what is important and focus on things you can change/make better. If they are out of your control, stop fixating on them. It will not make it any better.
There are so many little things that don't deserve our time of day. Did someone cut you off while driving to work in the morning? Oh well, not worth getting angry or stressed out about. It's something so small in the big picture. Focus your energy on things that actually matter in your life, not the small insignificant things.
Better Your Life #6: Karma Exists - Be Kind To Others
This is another thing I am a huge believer in. Karma. I believe what you put out into the world you will get back in return in some way. Karma is the result of a person's actions. If your actions are kind and you believe in your heart it is making the world a better place in one very small way, then karma will be good to you.
Karma will better your life if you give it a chance. Do on to others, as you would want someone to do onto you.
Again I talk a lot about this in my post "100 Ways to Save the World with Kindness". 100 ways you can be kind to others and put out positivity into the world. I challenge you to do at least one random act of kindness a day and see what a difference it makes in your life! You may not see it right away, but karma acts in mysterious ways. Instantly, a month, or a year from now, karma will come back and return the favour.
Better Your Life #7: Be Thankful
In life, we spend a lot of time searching for happiness. We spend countless years trying to get to the next level in life. But we forget to look around us at what we already have. There are so many reasons you should be thankful for what you have in life.
Struggling to come up with reasons? Check out my blog post "50 things Yo Be Thankful for This Year" to show you just how lucky you truly are.
I would suggest starting a bullet journal. Every day, write down one thing you are thankful for, and when you're having a blue day, a day where you just don't understand why you are sad, look back in your bullet journal and really appreciate where you are in your life, how far you have come, and the beautiful people in it.
Society tells us we need to pursue happiness, but what if always searching for happiness is making us depressed? Sometimes, we need to remember to stop being goal seekers for a little while, and just appreciate what we already have.
I thought it was important to throw in this last tip because I don't want people to take my posts the wrong way. The pursuit of happiness can be exhausting. Sometimes you need a break..and when you need this break, it is ok to take it. This doesn't make you any less of a person for not striving to grow or be better in life. Sometimes you need to just take a little step back and look around you. Remind yourself that everything you have done thus far in life has been successful and that everything happens for a reason.
You are EXACTLY where you are supposed to be in life, right now, this moment.
