Welcome to Nikki's Plate - a space where I share my love for home decor, family recipes, DIY projects, and the story of building our dream farmhouse from the ground up.
My Story
I've always loved creating cozy, beautiful spaces. Still, my passion for home design really flourished when my husband and I started building our own custom farmhouse in the countryside near Kingston, Ontario. From choosing every detail - siding, stone, flooring, cabinetry - to styling each room once the dust settled, I've fallen in love with the entire process.
When I first started Nikki's Plate, it was a creative outlet - a mix of recipes, crafts, and everyday lifestyle inspiration. Over the years, though, it's become so much more. As my family and I began designing and building our custom farmhouse in the countryside, this blog naturally grew right alongside that journey.
What started as a way to share favorite finds and seasonal decor ideas has blossomed into a hub for farmhouse-inspired design, DIY projects, and behind-the-scenes updates on our build. Every wall we painted, every flooring sample we debated, every seasonal wreath we hung - it's all been part of the story, and I've loved documenting it here for you.

A Little More About Me
I'm a Canadian mama to 3 girls and a registered nurse by day. I've always loved the feeling of walking into a space that's both cozy and beautiful, and building our farmhouse has been the ultimate creative project.
When I'm not blogging, you can usually find me:
- Styling a new corner of our home (and immediately moving things around again!)
- Running outdoors to clear my head
- Spending time with my three kids and husband on our rural property
- Or sipping coffee while scrolling Pinterest for my next big idea
I'm also passionate about clean, mindful living - from choosing non-toxic materials in our home to supporting local Canadian brands whenever I can.
