Hi beauties! Today we are expanding on yesterday's post about kitchen trends and talking all about living room trends!
The living room is the heart of your home and the first thing people see when they enter. So, it's important that you keep it looking fresh and updated.
I've picked out some of our favorite living room trends right now and explained how you can incorporate them into your space. So, whether you're looking to refresh your entire living room or just one corner, this list will help!
Top 10 Living Room Trends
Mixed Metals
When it comes to mixing metals, there are two main rules:
- Mix different metals in the same room. For example, you could use brass and silver or copper, bronze, and gold. This works especially well if you’re using different textures of metal (such as a hammered copper bowl next to a smooth stainless flatware holder).
- You can also mix metals that are the same color but have different finishes (for example, antique finish silver with polished nickel hardware for handles).
Abstract Patterns
Abstract patterns are a great way to add color without overwhelming the room. You can use abstract patterns on pillows, rugs, curtains, and artwork. In this room they’ve used an abstract patterned rug that is both unique and colorful.
If you want to add some color to your living room but don’t want to go with traditional prints or paintings you could try adding a piece of artwork with an interesting design to it. You could also get some really cute pillows for your couch or chair that have a fun print or pattern on them as well!
Natural Textures
If you're looking to add some rustic charm to your living room, natural textures are a great way to do so. The old-world feel that comes with wood and stone is perfect for those looking to create an inviting space that feels like home. Natural elements like wooden beams, stone fireplaces, and leather sofas all add warmth and coziness while also serving as subtle reminders of the ancient traditions that have come before us.
If you don't have much space in which to work with this theme (or if you're just not ready for such a major overhaul), there are still many ways to incorporate natural materials into your living room without going all out. Consider something as simple as using neutral colors like browns and grays instead of bright pinks or blues—the earthy tones will lend themselves well to adding depth without taking up too much visual weight on their own!
Dark Accent Walls
We are definitely seeing a lot more moody rooms these days!! Dark accent walls are a great way to make a space feel more cozy and homey. They can also help make a room seem larger yet cozy by drawing the eye in, and they can give your living room a modern or elegant look.
Some people may be hesitant to use dark accents in their homes because they worry that they'll look too much like they're trying to be trendy, but this isn't always the case. If you have the right combination of other design elements in your living room, using dark gray or black paint on an accent wall will help bring it together nicely and still feel casual enough for everyday use.
Mix and Match
Mix and match furniture. Mixing and matching furniture is a great way to add interest to your living room design. For example, you can mix various styles and colors of furniture, or you can bring together pieces from different rooms in your home, or even pieces from different time periods. This technique gives your room a more eclectic feel that will keep it from looking too formal. The days of being furniture sets are LONG gone.
Navy Blue Sofa
This one surprised me! Navy couches are on the rise. Navy blue is a great color choice for a sofa. It's a popular choice because it works well with natural light and sunlight. If you have plenty of natural light in your living room, navy blue will make the room look larger and brighter. Also, navy blue suits most styles of decorating—from rustic to modern—so it can fit into any home.
Redecorate with Vintage Art
We are seeing a huge trend with vintage art. Vintage art is an excellent way to add a personal touch to your living room, and can be a good way to get the look of a more expensive piece of art without paying the price. If you're looking for something unique that speaks out about who you are, this is a great solution!
All-White Living Room
All-white living rooms are trending, and I'm here so here for it! It's not that we don't love color—I do! But sometimes, you just need a shock of white to take your breath away. All-white living rooms are a classic look that never goes out of style. They are clean and simple, with nothing but white walls and furniture to fill up the space. This can be great if you like having a lot of space in your home without clutter or distractions getting in the way of enjoying your time at home.
Colorful Throw Pillows
Throw pillows are a great way to personalize your home, and they can also be used as functional accessories. One of the easiest ways to update your living space is with throw pillows. They can be used to jazz up a sofa or sectional, add color and texture to a room, or even serve as an accent piece for a bed. If you're thinking about purchasing throw pillows for your living room, here are some tips:
- Think about the overall look of your living room and what colors and patterns work well together.
- How many throw pillows do I need? It's up to you! Some people like having one or two throw pillows on their couch; others prefer to line the backs of their living room chairs with them. The choice is yours! If you have a large couch or sectional, you may want to purchase some larger throw pillows that can be used to fill in the space between the pieces.
- Thickness. When it comes to pillows, thickness matters. You want a pillow that's thick enough to provide support and soft enough to be comfortable.
- Filling. Pillow filling is important because it determines the way the pillow will feel against your skin. Polyester fillings tend to be more durable and long-lasting than cotton fillings, but cotton fillings are more breathable and can help with temperature regulation.
- Size. The size of your throw pillow should depend on the size of your couch or chair. If you have a small couch or chair, then you'll want smaller pillows (about 18 inches square). If you have a large couch or chair, then you'll want bigger pillows (about 24 inches square).
- Where should I place my throw pillows? Think about where each one will go in advance—you don't want them cluttering up any part of the room! You may also want to consider whether or not you'll use any decorative mirrors or artwork above these spots before making any choices. In general, we recommend placing a few decorative mirrors or artwork above areas where there are plenty of bookshelves or cabinets so that there's something visually interesting happening when someone looks down at them (instead of just seeing blank wall space).
Modern Farmhouse Style
Modern farmhouse is a popular style that can be found in many homes. This style combines rustic and modern elements to create an overall look that’s both stylish and cozy. The living room is the perfect spot to incorporate this trend because it has lots of open space, allowing you to add any number of pieces in a variety of materials and colors. This makes it easy for you to add personality to your living room decor!
