Hi beauties!
Back at ya with another Christmas post! This time, I am talking all about your Christmas tree. Curious what are the most common ornaments and decorations for your tree? I have you covered with this post!
I don't put up ANY Christmas decorations until after Remembrance Day on Nov 11th. That is just my own rule of thumb that we have followed my entire life. On November 12th though, its freakin go time baby! I crank up the Christmas tunes, light a festive candle, pull out my boxes from our crawl space DUNGEON and plaster our house with Christmas cheer.
I love putting up our Christmas tree first because it REALLY gets me into the mood. Our Christmas Tree is a fake green one. It was just easier to get a fake one with our dogs and originally we first bought it when we lived in an apartment, so it just made sense. Our decorations are usually white blue and gold, which just fits well with my home decor
That's one thing you should consider when buying your decorations and choosing a theme for your Christmas decor. How will your Christmas decorations fit in with your home decor?
That being said...
Here are The 9 Most Popular Christmas Tree Decorations
1. Christmas Lights
This is an obvious one, you need lights on your tree! My favourite is just simple warm white lights so that you can really make the rest of your decorations stand out on the tree! You can even buy fake Christmas trees that already have the lights built in to them, which is SO handy. Here are some lighting ideas:
2. Garland or Beads
I love adding beads to my tree! Garland or beads look best when they wrap around the tree in the same direction as your lights and ribbons. You can get creative and make your own, or you can buy simple ones that add a small festive touch to your tree. Growing up we use to make popcorn garland every year! We had so much fun doing it. Such a great family craft that the kids will be proud of!
3. Ribbon
Every tree needs a little ribbon. You can either go dramatic with your ribbon or do a very simple small ribbon. There are so many different ribbons out there you can use! You can choose glittery, light up or rustic ribbon, whatever fits your theme! Here are some examples:
4. Bows
Another decoration you can't forget is a few bows! For me, bows make the tree pretty and elegant. You can add bows that match the wrap-around ribbon or you can choose something completely different so they stand out on the tree. Whatever you decide, bows are a must regardless of the size!
5. Ball Ornaments
Big ball ornaments are a classic decoration for trees that have been around for years and years. Your tree needs them, you cant not have ornament balls on your tree! They come in so many sizes and colours, your creativity can run wild! Have fun with it!
6. Pine Cones
Pine cones make the best ornaments for your tree! I absolutely love having pine cones on my tree. I even made my own glittery pine cone ornaments last year! They also come in so many colours. You can jazz up your tree with some crazy coloured pine cones or keep it simple and use traditional pinecones.
7. Small Unique Ornaments
Every Christmas tree should have those random little ornaments that just scream Christmas. We have so many of them on our tree, everything from reindeer to gingerbread man, your tree needs some of those cute little hidden gems. We usually get one ornament a year as a Christmas gift from my husband's parents. so our collection is growing! Here are some random yet adorable small ornament ideas:
8. Personal Homemade Ornaments
I think every tree needs a few personal homemade ornaments. This year I want to make a few ornaments for my husband and I's first Christmas together as Mr and Mrs! I have also seen many people make ornaments for baby's first Christmas too. So many ideas are out there for them! Here are a few I found:
9. Tree Topper
To finish off every tree, you need a tree topper! Your tree is not complete without a star, bow or angel on the very top of your Christmas tree.
There you have it!
