I have finally planted the perfect indoor tree to bring some green into our living room and I'm overly excited about it.

I honestly don't even know why this has taken me so long to do.. it was one of the easiest DIY decor pieces in my living room.
Can I even call this a DIY decor piece?
Either way its pretty and perfect for this corner:
A few months ago, I did a post on how to keep indoor plants alive... So you all know I have my green thumb top notch right now. My living room is lush green at the moment and I'm loving every bit of it.
So here are the steps to the perfectly potted tree. These tips and tricks are amazing!
Here are the things you will need:
- Tree of choice (preferably one that needs minimal sunlight).
- Large pot (try to avoid stone, yes they are pretty but they are so hard to move around.. I got mine from Lowes)
- Small pot to place inside
- Potting soil
- Water
Step 1: Insert Small Pot into Bigger Pot
I love this step because it will make your pot lighter and allows for the water to drain somewhere after watering your tree. It also allows you to save on dirt and give your tree an extra boast in the height.
Step 2: Fill with Soil Specific for Potting
This is an important step... shocker I know. BUT what I really mean is, you need soil that is made for potting plants rather then just top soil for your gardens. My favourite one is this one from miracle-gro!
Step 3: Place Tree onto of Interior Pot
This gives your tree extra height without filling up on soil! Also makes your pot lighter when you have to move it into the house. The small interior pot also has some holes in the top of it which also for excess water to drain into, which ensures your tree won't die on you from over watering!
Step 4: Fill Up With the Remaining Soil
You can also place a small layer of black top soil to make it darker (and prettier) then brown soil. Or you could even use mulch, but I would never because I feel like my dogs would have way too much fun with that.. haha
And your finished!
Pretty straight forward.. but I'll be honest, I goggled it before I potted this tree.. so I thought why not do my own version post to help ya'll out!
If you have any tips or tricks for the next time I pot a tree, leave it in the comments below.
