Hi beauties! Coming at you with another 2023 design trends but this time we are talking all about bathrooms!
Bathrooms are like snowflakes: no two are alike. It's a fact that can be intimidating to those who aren't natural-born decorators. That's why I've put together this list of trends for bathrooms in 2023, so you can make the most out of your space without having to reinvent the wheel.
When it comes to design, there are tons of options out there—and if nothing but perfection will do for your new bathroom, then these trending ideas will help you achieve it:
Bathroom Trends for 2023:
A More Natural Bathroom Design?
Bathrooms will also be getting more natural, with bamboo floors and plants growing on shelves above sinks. Floors are getting more natural with bamboo, which has become more popular as people have become more environmentally conscious. There will be a trend toward using more natural materials like stone or timber in bathrooms. You'll see more wooden cabinets in bathrooms this year for sure! Goodbye all white bathrooms!
More Metallic Finishes?
While metallic finishes have been popular for a while now, they are expected to continue gaining momentum through 2023. Metallics can be used in a variety of ways throughout your bathroom, including tiles, countertops, lighting fixtures, wallpaper and even flooring!
More Aqua Tones?
Aqua is a color that has been trending in recent years, and it's expected to continue on this path through 2023. The color is associated with relaxation and tranquility, making it an ideal choice for bathrooms. As people begin to spend more time in their homes and are looking for ways to create a more relaxing atmosphere, aqua hues are becoming increasingly popular.
While some people prefer bright colors for their bathroom decorating ideas, there are others who like neutral shades like white or gray. Aqua is a great way to add some color without being too bold about it! It's also not too feminine so men can use this color as well!
Whirlpool tubs or steam shower?
We are definitely seeing more and more of both of these being installed in master bathrooms and I think it will reach a high in 2023. But what are they?
- Whirlpool tubs. The popularity of whirlpool tubs has been on the rise for some time now, and we're not surprised that these luxurious bathing options will continue to grow in popularity in 2023. If you're looking for some quiet, peaceful relaxation with your partner or a good book, a whirlpool-style bathtub is the way to go. It's a simple experience that doesn't require any extra equipment and leaves everyone relaxed and ready for bed afterwards.
- Steam showers. For active people who want to sweat out some of this winter's cold weather, steam showers are an excellent option—and they come with added benefits! Steam saunas can help clear up nasal congestion (good news if you're suffering from allergies), reduce stress levels by relaxing tense muscles and increasing circulation in your skin, and even detoxify your body after a day at work or play outside in the elements. Steam rooms have been used for centuries as a form of therapy, and they're still popular today. Everyone is on such a health kick these days that steam showers are definitely becoming more popular!
Contemporary or rustic?
If you're looking for a bathroom style that's as clean and simple as it gets, contemporary is your best bet. Minimalism and bright colors are a common theme, with lots of light-colored fixtures (think white or chrome) paired with stone countertops and sleek cabinetry. If your budget allows for it, the pricier option is using marble or granite in lieu of some of the less expensive materials.
Contemporary bathrooms are suited to smaller spaces, since their uniformity can help create an illusion of spaciousness without requiring much room at all. In fact, many designers prefer incorporating some sort of accent wall—whether it's an accent tile on the shower walls or something more dramatic like wallpaper—to add interest to an otherwise minimalist design.
Larger spaces require more personalized touches; after all, there's only so much you can do with tiles and fixtures before they begin to feel stale! Rustic style brings natural textures into play by using wood finishes from cabinets to floors; sometimes this means using reclaimed materials from old buildings in order to avoid having everything match perfectly. Rustic styles also tend toward darker tones such as browns or blacks in favor of lighter neutrals like beiges or whites that work well with contemporary styles' neutral palettes.
Black or white
When it comes to decorating your bathroom, the possibilities are endless. But if you're looking for a classic look that will never go out of style, black and white is an excellent choice.
White is a neutral color that can be paired with just about any other hue; it also makes a great backdrop for other colors and patterns. Black creates a bold statement in any setting—most often used as an accent color or as an alternative to white in bathrooms with dark wood floors and cabinets. A black-and-white theme works especially well in children's bathrooms because it adds cleanliness and simplicity without being too juvenile or stark for adults
Marble or quartz?
This is according to the most recent data from the bathroom industry. In fact, the shift has already started—according to our research, marble has dipped to 27% of bathrooms in 2022 from 33% in 2021 and 41% in 2020. Quartz has been steadily rising—it was at 24% of all bathrooms in 2022, but it's predicted to reach 33% by 2023.
- Marble is a natural stone, while quartz is man-made. Marble is more expensive than quartz. Marble is softer than quartz, so it can scratch or chip more easily.
- Quartz is harder and more durable, making it the better choice for a wet environment like a bathroom (e.g., if you prefer to keep your hair dryer on the countertop). Quartz will not absorb moisture as much as marble does, which means that keeping this material clean may be easier than cleaning up after your marble countertop has absorbed water stains from all those bubble baths you take!
Walk-in shower or soaking tub?
You'll have to decide between a walk-in shower or a soaking tub. If you're working with limited space, a walk-in shower is the way to go. But if you'd rather relax and unwind after your day, seeking out an oversized soaking tub could be worth the extra effort of finding one that fits in your bathroom.
Still not sure which option will work best for you? Consider both! A combination of these two features can leave plenty of room for both relaxation and comfort. Just make sure it's big enough for two people so everyone can enjoy it!
Vertical subway tiles or herringbone pattern tile?
The subway tile trend is still going strong, and it's one that you can use to add a beautiful burst of color to your bathroom. But do you want vertical or herringbone pattern tiles?
Vertical tiles are more popular than herringbone pattern ones. They're easier to install because they don't need grout lines between them, so they just snap together (or attach with an adhesive). And since they aren’t as intricate, they're also easier to clean!
Herringbone pattern tiles are often more expensive than most other choices out there. They also require more effort in terms of installing them—you have to deal with those grout lines and curves! If you choose this look for your bathroom wall instead of flooring, remember that you'll probably have to lay down a baseboard before putting up any other type of tile; otherwise there won't be enough room between the edge of each piece and where it meets another surface around it.
Double sink or single sink vanity?
Bathroom trends for 2023 will focus on giving you a spa-like experience right in your own home. Therefore we are actually seeing a slight upward trend again in double sinks.
If you're in a relationship, a double sink vanity can be ideal. The two sinks allow both of you to get ready at the same time (assuming that one person doesn't take longer than the other). You'll also have space for your makeup and hair tools, which is helpful if you like to primp together before heading out the door.
If you're single or live alone, then a single sink vanity is the best option for you. A single sink unit typically costs less than its counterpart with two sinks, meaning that it will fit into almost any budget. Bonus: most single-sink vanities include an integrated bench seat so that it's easier to reach everything from your seated position!
Medicine cabinets in the bathroom, yes or no?
Medicine cabinets are on a downward trend this year and continue to head that way. Most medicine cabinets are very small and don't hold much, so if you do decide to have one, make sure to choose one that suits your needs and fits your space (and budget).
Medicine cabinets are great for storing your toiletries; this way, they're out of the way but still within reach when you need them. You can also use it for other things like storing towels or extra towels that could get wet from dripping hairbrush water onto them!
Round mirror or oval-shaped mirror?
We are definitely seeing a trend in round/oval/circle mirrors! When it comes to circle mirrors, there are two main types: round and oval-shaped. The shape of your bathroom mirror depends on your budget and personal style.
Round mirrors are more flattering than oval-shaped ones because they give a wider angle of view (that is, you can see more of yourself at once). This is great if you're trying to look neat and put together before heading out on the town, but if you feel like hiding from the world in a bathrobe all day long, an oval mirror will do just fine.
Oval mirrors are also more modern than their round counterparts—they can be used in any room where sleek design is desired—and tend to be pricier too! If this doesn't bother you or if it's worth paying extra for something that will stand out from all other bathroom fixtures in your home (and who doesn't want that?), go ahead and pick up one for yourself today!
The variety of bathroom trends for 2023 are endless.
The variety of choices are endless. There is no one right answer, but it’s important to consider your personal taste and preferences when making decisions about your bathroom remodel. You can always change it later if you decide that something else might be more in line with your style or lifestyle.
