Hi beauties!
Recently I went full time blogging so I thought it would be a good idea to give some of my times for working at home and staying productive.
Working from home is a dream for many people. It's a freeing feeling to be able to take your kids to the doctor or run errands without having to worry about missing an important phone call or meeting.
However, it can also be difficult to focus on work when you have so many distractions at home. In this article, I'll outline some tips to Be More Productive Working from Home in 2023 and avoiding distractions!
How to Be More Productive Working from Home in 2023:
Create a designated work space
- Designate a dedicated work space. You might be tempted to work from the couch, but having a designated spot for work will help you focus and get more done.
- Create a workspace that is comfortable, organized and productive. If you’re out of room on your desk, try using wall space or creating an organizing system for your equipment (like this cable management solution).
- Make sure you have the tools you need to complete tasks from home—if something isn’t in its proper place, it can easily become another distraction that keeps you from getting things done!
- Avoid distractions by setting up boundaries around your workspace: keep windows covered with blinds or curtains to prevent light from coming in; turn off any TVs/radios/phones; close off any rooms that may lead into other places in the house where people tend not go during normal hours (like kitchens). This will help limit interruptions while working with less noise pollution overall so that focus is increased while being productive at home instead of feeling like someone else could come barging in at any moment without notice!
Keep a regular schedule, even if it's not the same as your office hours
Let's be honest: It's hard to stop working. We all know that the longer you're at your desk, the more productive you feel. But if you want to maintain a healthy work-life balance, it's important to set boundaries between your work and personal lives.
One of the best ways to do this is with a schedule—a routine that helps keep things in perspective. By sticking with a regular schedule, even if it doesn't match up with your office hours, you'll be able to ease into a healthier routine at home too (and as an added bonus: You won't have to worry about showing up late for meetings).
You need time during the day to focus on being productive in order not only build good habits but also improve upon them so that they become second nature in no time!

Avoid household chores during work hours
It is easy to get distracted at home, and these distractions can take up a lot of time. To stay focused when you're at work, set boundaries for yourself. Don't do any household chores during your normal work hours. For example, if after lunch you take an hour to clean the house before returning to work—well, that's just not going to cut it!
If you have children who need help doing their homework or chores around the house while they wait for mommy or daddy (you) to come home from work, then do those things after 6 PM when your working day is done. You need time during the day to focus on being productive in order not only build good habits but also improve upon them so that they become second nature in no time!
Treat working from home like you would an office.
- Set up a workstation: Whether you’re working out of your basement or on the couch, it’s important to set up your own little office space with all the tools you need to get your job done. It might be as simple as creating a desk out of an old piece of Ikea furniture, or setting up a laptop on the kitchen counter while making coffee in the morning. The point is to create an area where you can sit down and get things done without worrying about being interrupted by family members or pets (or worse—an empty cup).
- Make sure that you have all the right tools for the job: From scissors to staplers and paper clips, even if you are working from home it is still important that these items are within reach so that there is no reason for distraction when trying to complete tasks such as sending e-mails or faxes (if applicable), scheduling meetings via online calendars such as Acuity Scheduling Software or Google Calendar; etc., which can also help keep track of deadlines around projects/events happening within different departments at companies where one might otherwise not know about until after they've occurred without knowing how long each one will take place before hand."
Work in your most productive state
You should be in the right state of mind before you start working. If you're not, it's best to take a break and get into that state.
When do you know if you are in the right state? You'll know when:
- You are focused and can concentrate with ease on one task at a time
- Your energy level is high and your mood is positive
- You feel like you could go for hours without getting tired (this will vary from person to person)
What happens when we're not in this productive state? We tend to:
- Get distracted by other things going on around us or online; * Feel tired after only 10 minutes of sitting down; * Have trouble completing tasks because they feel too challenging or boring; * Struggle with motivation because the work feels too difficult or boring;
Set boundaries to minimize distractions
There’s nothing worse than having to stop your work when you have a deadline hanging over your head, and then being distracted by the children or pets in the house. Make sure that everyone in your home knows when it’s time for you to focus on work, and when it isn’t. If you have kids, set up a strict schedule for their activities so that they know when it’s okay for them to come into the office/den/whatever other space you use as an office at home.
If possible, try not to have any visitors during these times either (even if they are close friends). This can be hard if there are people in your life who want a lot of attention from their favorite remote worker!
You might also want to consider whether or not having pets around is going to be beneficial or harmful while working on projects with tight deadlines—if there is any doubt about this in your mind then don't hesitate in making arrangements with friends or family members who live nearby (or even hiring an occasional babysitter) so that they can watch over things while we're gone!
Use apps to help with productivity and focus
Apps can help you stay focused, organized and on schedule. This will help you get more done in less time. Here are some of the apps we recommend:
- Timely (iOS) or Clock (Android) - Appointments and reminders made easy!
- Wunderlist (iOS), or Todoist (Android) - Create to-do lists and set reminders for yourself so that nothing slips through the cracks.
- Freedom (iOS) or Self Control (MacOS) - Steer clear of social media sites like Facebook that aren't work-related!
- Focus@Will - Listen to music with specific beats per minute that keep your brain active while also blocking out noise around you!

Working from home can be even more productive than working in an office, especially when you have the right tools!
Once you have the right tools and routine, working from home can be even more productive than working in an office. It's important to set boundaries so your home doesn't feel like a second office, but it's also important to treat your home as if it were an office and make sure you're doing everything you can to maximize your productivity.
- Set up your work space: Your workspace should be clean and organized, with everything within easy reach. Find out what works best for you—I use a standing desk so I don't get too comfortable by sitting all day.
- Stick to a schedule: Your work schedule should be similar or identical to what it would be if you were in an office—start at the same time every day and end at the same time every day. Just because it's easier for some people doesn't mean those who work from home shouldn't stick with their usual routines! This will help keep things consistent between the two environments (and make transitioning between them less jarring).
- Treating your home like an office: You can do this in many ways—having designated spaces for eating/sleeping/doing laundry/etc., cleaning up after yourself when projects are finished so there aren't piles of papers everywhere (or whatever else), etc., anything that makes each room look like its own functional space rather than just another room in which people happen to live their lives while hanging out together sometimes too often on weekends... okay maybe that last part isn't always necessary but ideally yes definitely yes!
Working from home can be a great way to avoid the distractions of an office, but it also means that you have to take care of yourself as an independent contractor.
You need to make sure that you are productive and getting your work done in a timely manner so that your clients will continue using your services. I hope these tips help you stay on top of things while working from home!
