You can use the same ingredients to make a glass cleaner that will leave your windows sparkling without the toxic fumes or residue. This recipe uses rubbing alcohol, vinegar, essential oils, and cornstarch as the main ingredients.
This is a great homemade window cleaner that works well on all types of glass surfaces including mirrors and shower doors. It is also safe for use on plastic windows as well. The cornstarch helps prevent streaking while still allowing the solution to cling to dirt so it can be easily wiped away.

How to Make Natural Window and Glass Cleaner Recipe:
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons rubbing alcohol or vodka
- 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 5 drops essential oils of choice (optional)
Directions
The first thing you are going to do is combine all the ingredients into a 16 ounce glass spray bottle. Put the cap on securely and shake well. Spray onto windows and wipe clean with a dry microfibre cloth.
Tips for this Homemade Window and Glass Cleaning Solution
- Be sure to shake very well to combine all the ingredients EVERY TIME before you use this natural cleaner. If you do not, the cornstarch will settle at the bottom between uses and not be effective.
- Make sure you wipe the product off glass or window with a CLEAN microfibre cloth. If you use one that isn't clean it will leave streaks behind. It is not this recipe that is leaving any streaks in this case.
- Make sure you put a label on your cleaning bottle. You cant really use this recipe on anything other then glass and windows.
- Dust your windows before spraying them with this recipe. This will help minimize any leftover particles on the glass/windows.
Benefits of Using Cornstarch in Cleaning
Cornstarch is made from corn and it has a variety of uses in your home. Cornstarch is a safe cleaning additive for most surfaces, and it's easy to use. It's cheap, easy to find, and has many benefits that make it the best choice for your home. Here are some benefits of using cornstarch in cleaning:
- Cornstarch won't leave any residue on your surfaces after you've cleaned them.
- Cornstarch is biodegradable, so you don't have to worry about the environment when you use it.
- Cornstarch is non-toxic, so it's safe to use around all members of your family, including children and pets!
- Cornstarch doesn't leave a powdery film on your counters or floors like many other cleaners do.
- Cornstarch absorbs moisture well; if you're worried about damp areas in your home (like bathrooms), cornstarch can help absorb excess moisture so that mold doesn't grow or mildew form.
- Cornstarch can be used as an abrasive cleaner; if you want to scour something like a glass stovetop or sink without using harsh chemicals or scrubs, cornstarch is the perfect option!
