I have survived my first juice cleanse.
True story.
I have always wanted to do a juice cleanse.. but to be honest I was too scared. I couldn't understand why people would put themselves through the torture of starving all day and only drinking juice. Why!?
To be honest I do not even like juice. I only drink water... and my beloved coffee/tea of course.
I decided to do some research into juicing and why it was the new trend. I came across a documentary called "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead: How Fruits and Vegetables Changed My Life" This documentary changed my views on juicing and really motivated me to try it out.
My boyfriend spoiled me at Christmas and got me juicer and a few other kitchen appliances... because he knows I like my food. Of course I don't suggest going out and buying a juicer if it is your first time juicing. I have always wanted a juicer to incorporate more vitamins into my daily diet to help boost my nutritional intake.
The juicer I used was the Breville Two-Speed Juice Fountain Plus. It is a great juicer and so easy to clean.. which is an ultimate plus! And you don't need to chop up or remove the skin of fruits and veggies with this juicer which makes it a super fast process.
So lets jump right into my 1 day juice cleanse!

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL CLEANSE:
- Prep all juices prior to the day of the cleanse. I made all my juice the day before and put them in mason jars in the fridge.
- Drink the full mason jar at scheduled times. DO NOT SKIP A JUICE. Drinking a juice every 2-3 hours keeps your blood sugar levels up and decreases hunger.
- Only do a cleanse when your motivated to. Make sure you are in the right mind frame to do a cleanse. I your not 100% into it, or your not sure if you can do it then do not do it. You need to want to do it to succeed.
- Push yourself. Remember your goals and why you want to do the juice cleanse.
- Stay busy but not too busy. Do easy activities to keep your mind off eating. Humans tend to eat when we are bored. Keeping busy is key. Choice activities that do not burn too many calories.
- Do it with a buddy or have someone help motivate you. My boyfriend was a big motivator for me during my juice cleanse. He knew how badly I wanted to succeed in my cleanse, so he was my biggest cheerleader!
- Do it for the right reasons. Do a cleanse because you want to not because it is a new trend.
WHAT I LEARNED:
- The feeling of completing a juice cleanse is the most rewarding experience. Being able to push myself through this cleansed showed me that I can do what ever I really put my mind too. I was so excited when I climbed into bed at the end of the day knowing that I did it. I really did it.
- The next morning I could not believe how great I felt. I had zero bloating and I felt light. The only thing that was negative for me was my headache. I woke up with a bit of a headache. But I think I had the headache because I didn't drink my usual 2-3L of water during my cleanse. Next time I will remember to continue drinking water while drinking my juice as well.
- Setting goals and achieving them is the greatest feeling in the world and this really pushes you to set new goals that only better yourself and gets you one step closer to your dreams!
