Hi beauties! Coming at you with the perfect Christmas drink recipe! This Candy Cane Martini recipe will be sure to put you in the holiday spirit.
The Candy Cane Martini is a festive drink that's perfect for the holidays. It's a great way to celebrate with friends at your Christmas party this year. I made this Candy Cane Martini as a holiday treat, but I think it's just too good to be seasonal. It's festive without being over-the-top, and it's sweet but not too sweet. It's the perfect cocktail for any occasion really..
If you're like me, you love Christmas season and a good holiday party, then you need a statement holiday cocktail . It's the time of year when we get together with our families to celebrate the holiday (and all of the presents). But, it's also the time of year when we eat way too many sweets, resulting in a virtual mountain of leftover candy canes. If you've managed to stockpile an excess of candy canes, this candy cane martini recipe is for you!
How to Make This Candy Cane Martini Recipe
This recipe is actually pretty simple to make! 5 ingredients and a couple martini glasses is all you need!
- Peppermint schnapps
- White creme de cacao
- Half-and-half
- Grenadine syrup
- Marshmallow Creme (for garnish)
- Small candy canes
The first thing you are going to do is mix together the peppermint schnapps, crème de cacao, half-and-half, and grenadine in a large pitcher with a few candy canes. Place the pitcher in the fridge until chilled. I recommend overnight so that the candy cane can full dissolve.
If you don't have time to let it sit overnight, then I suggest placing it in the fridge for at least one hour. You can strain the candy canes when pour the mixture into the martini glasses. I personally recommend chilling overnight so you are able to get the full flavor from the peppermint candy.
While the martini mix is chilling in the fridge, prepare and garnish your martini glasses. This is to prepare the rim of a martini glass before pouring in the liquid In a ziplock bag, crush the candy canes until fairly fine. If you don't want to use a ziplock bag you can use a food processor. Dip the rim of the glass in the marshmallow creme, spread on a plate, and then dip the glass rim in the crushed candy cane on a second plate.
Once you have your prepared martini glass or glasses, you are going to carefully pour your martini mixture into them. You may have to strain it here to ensure no chunks of candy cane are undissolved in your drink.
You can sprinkle some cinnamon if you want it to be really Christmasy but I like it just the way it is! Tastes like a perfect holiday cocktail. No cocktail shaker needed and total time to prepare is minimal!
Tips for Making Candy Cane Martinis
- Use glass martini glasses. They help the candy cane stick to the rim if you are going to garnish them! If you use plastic glasses, you may have to do two rounds of garnishing the rims to get enough on there.
- Chill the liquid ingredients! Once you have the martini mixture together in the pitcher, make sure you chill it for at least 1 hour! Or you will get a warm drink that is not well dissolved.
- If you use a shaker, make sure you do not over shake it our the cream may start to thicken on you!
- Make sure you follow my instructions carefully and allow for the full prep time to make sure they turn out perfectly!
- Don't think about calories or carbohydrates, just enjoy it!
- Other delicious alternatives: vanilla vodka, white chocolate liqueur, creme de menthe, white crème and simple syrup (avoid corn syrup).
I hope you've enjoyed this candy cane martini recipe and it impresses your guests! Here's wishing you all a happy and safe new year!
