How to Make DIY Lavender Pre-Vacuum Rug Cleaner
Ingredients
- 1 cup dried lavender flowers (optional)
- 2 cups baking soda
- 10 drops of lavender essential oil
- 10 drops rose geranium essential oil (optional)
Directions
If you are using lavender flowers you will need to crush them before you mix the ingredients together. I like to use a medicine bowl for this. Once the flowers are crushed, mix in the baking soda until fully combined. Add in the essential oils next and stir again. You want everything to be fully blended. Next you will transfer this mixture to an airtight glass jar or container.
How to Use Homemade Lavender Pre-Vacuum Cleaner:
It is very simple to use. What you are going to do is sprinkle this mixture onto your rugs or carpets. Let it sit there for at least 30 minutes. Once it has sat for the suggested amount of time, vacuum the rugs/carpet like you normally would. And thats it! Super easy to use but extremely effective!
Benefits of Baking Soda as a Pre-Vacuum Cleaner:
Have you noticed that when you vacuum your carpet, it doesn't seem to get as clean as it used to? You're not alone. The average household vacuum is only able to pick up around 80% of the dirt and debris in your carpets, leaving the rest to continue building up over time.
The good news is that there's an easy solution: sprinkle baking soda on your carpet before vacuuming. Baking soda has natural cleansing properties that help break down dirt and grime so they can be picked up more easily by your vacuum. It also neutralizes odors, so if your house has been smelling like wet dog lately (or pizza), this trick will help with that too!
- Helps to eliminate odors, including pet smells and cigarette smoke.
- Lifts dirt and stains off the carpet fibers, so they don't get pushed around by the vacuum cleaner.
- Makes your carpet feel softer after vacuuming.
