Halloween Apple and Peanut Butter Monster Mouths Recipe
Ingredients:
- Green Apples - you can use any color of apples but I just prefer green apples! Try for a medium apple size as well.
- Peanut Butter or other nut butter - Creamy nut butter of choice, we love peanut butter in our house!
- Unsalted Peanuts - You can use any nuts in this recipe, I just had peanuts on hand. These are for the teeth!
- Mini Marshmallows - one marshmallow on the top for the eyes!
- Mini Chocolate Chips - one mini chocolate chip for the center of the eyes!
Directions:
To start, core and cut your medium apples into quarters. You can drizzle them with lemon juice if you are planning to eat these later on in the day. Carefully cut a mouth shape in the center of a quarter of an apple.
Spread the peanut butter on the middles of the quartered apples, both top and bottom. Then line up peanuts inside the mouth to create a row of teeth. If they are not perfect size, stick them to the bottom not top.
Create the eye on top using a mini marshmallow and chocolate chip. Secure with another dot of peanut butter or a toothpick on top of the apple.. Place in the fridge to help harden the peanut butter.
You can have fun with this recipe and maybe add a strawberry slice as the tongue or raisins as a black tooth. The options are endless for this healthy halloween treat!
