Hi beauties! Coming at you with another fun Halloween recipe for your October 31st party this year! This time I made Spider Deviled Eggs! This recipe is so simple and fun, your guests will love it!
Halloween is one of my favorite times of year. I love dressing up in costumes, going to haunted houses, carving pumpkins… it's just so much fun! And while there are plenty of classic Halloween foods out there (think candy corn, caramel apples), I wanted to come up with a recipe that was a little bit different.
They're perfect for serving at parties where people might have allergies or dietary restrictions because they're made with all-natural ingredients and don't contain any dairy products (if using vegan mayo). So if someone wants to eat gluten-free or vegan—or if you just don't want them eating meat—you can still offer them something delicious!
The best part is that it's super easy to make these Halloween Deviled Eggs. All you have to do is boil some eggs, cut them in half and scoop out the yolks. Then mix up all of the ingredients together in a bowl, spoon them back into the egg whites, create the olive spiders and refrigerate until ready to serve.
But lets jump into more details about these Halloween spider deviled eggs now shall we?!
Halloween Spider Deviled Eggs
Ingredients:
- Eggs
- Mayonnaise (use vegan for a dairy free option)
- White vinegar
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Black Olives
- Paprika and Dill (optional)
Directions:
The first thing you are going to do is hard boil your eggs. Make sure the eggs are completely submerged in the boiling water and boil for about 10 minutes. Remove eggs from the boiling water and place in a boil of ice water. This will stop them from cooking.
Next, peel the boiled eggs gently so the whites remain intact. I recommend doing this under running water. Slice the eggs in half lengthwise. Remove the egg yolks and place in a medium bowl, place the whites on a serving platter.
Using a fork, mash up the yellow yolks. Then add the mayonnaise, vinegar, salt, and pepper, stir until smooth. Fill each egg white with the yolk mixture with a spoon.
Next you are going to make the spooky spiders out of the black olives. Create the spider legs by cutting an olive half length wise several times. Use an olive half for the spider body. Place the olive pieces on top of the egg yolk mixture. Use the photos for reference. You can use tweezers if you need to!
Keep them in the refrigerator. I recommend serving the same day you make them.
Tips for Making Deviled Eggs
There are plenty of ways you can take your deviled egg game to the next level, and I'm here to help you do it. Here are some tips for making deviled eggs that are perfect every time:
- Use fresh eggs. While it's true that older eggs can be used in baking, they don't work well for mashing. Fresh eggs with a tight shell will give you the best result.
- Make sure they're at room temperature before you start cooking them—this is important to avoid cracking shells and helps the eggs cook evenly.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the eggs in half, and then use the same knife to remove the yolks from each egg.
- Whip the yolks with a wire whisk until they're light and fluffy, then add in some mayonnaise or sour cream.
- Peel away the shells carefully: Take care not to tear or damage the whites as you remove them from the egg halves. If they're damaged, they won't look as beautiful on your plate!
- Use a spoon to scoop out yolks. Don't use a fork—it will make it harder for you to get all of the good stuff out of there!
- Make sure you chill your egg whites before adding the filling—this will help them keep their shape when you serve them later!
- Use real mayonnaise! If you like your deviled eggs spicy, add some pickled jalapeño or hot sauce to the mix.
- You can also try adding chopped nuts or bacon bits for crunch and texture!
