Do I ever have a recipe for you! A delicious summer recipe you need to try this year!
I went on a mission. A mission to change the classic watermelon slices into something more exciting. Something that would kill my sweet tooth and keep me away from that candy Dylan always has laying around the house. It is so hard to eat healthy at times when your significant other stocks the cupboards with food from the devil. Lately I have been telling him he has to hide it from me.. lock it up and keep it away. So far it is working.
Anyways back to my watermelon.. As a child growing up, watermelon was always a summer favourite. My mom would always bring sliced watermelon and oranges to my soccer games or camping.
This fruit for me means summer, but time to grow up... yeah right! I decided to do some experimenting with my watermelon today. I wanted it to be sweet with a bite.
Watermelon is loaded with electrolytes and is definitely a snack you should turn to when you are out in the summer heat and sun! Bring on the heat with this hydrating fruit!
I took some fresh cilantro from our garden and sprinkled it onto some sliced watermelon. Then I took some agave syrup and drizzled it over the slices.. I also sprinkled some chia seeds to make it more pretty. I fell in love after my first bite. WOW. I could not believe how amazing it tasted. The agave syrup adds a perfect sweetened flare with each bite and the cilantro brings in a fresh pow.
Sweet cilantro watermelon recipe ingredients:
- Cilantro
- Agave Syrup
- Watermelon
- Chia Seeds (optional)
Slice the watermelon into wedges as shown in the photos. Cut up cilantro into small pieces then sprinkle onto wedges. Drizzle agave syrup over top and this recipe is complete! Easy I know.
This recipe will definitely be a keeper in my books and maybe something I will pass on to my children, bringing it to their soccer games - or I could just eat it all myself, who am I kidding.

Ingredients
- Watermelon Sliced
- cilantro
- agave or maple syrup
Instructions
- Slice up watermelon
- drizzle with agave or maple syrup. Add cilantro over top.
- Serve!
