I know that when a new year comes around, we all have resolution after resolution to make. How many times have we failed at keeping them? Most of the time it is as simple as not having any real goals. We feel that if we don't make grandiose resolutions than our resolutions won't mean anything. We'll only resolve to do things that don't cost us much, or things we don't really want to do anyway. The problem is that we never reach our actual goals.
Therefore, here are some tips for making your home improvement project New Year’s Resolutions actually work (from someone who has actually made them work):
DIY Home Project New Year’s Resolutions
Wall Decorations
If you have walls that are looking sparse or you are bored of staring at the same walls each day then adding new wall decorations is an easy DIY project but one that can make a big difference. New artwork, posters, maps and photos of loved ones can all add plenty of personality to the home.
Spruce Up the Garden
The garden is an area that gets worse the longer that it is left, especially after the winter months. This year, get ahead of the game by sprucing up your garden in the colder months so that it is looking its best in spring so that you can really make the most out of the warmer weather.
Remove/Refresh Skirting Boards
Skirting boards are there to sustain wear and tear, which inevitably means that these can look tired and grubby over time and this will bring down the tone of the entire home. You could remove these entirely or refresh them with a coat of paint to lift the appearance and breathe new life into these areas.
Organize the Pantry
The kitchen can be a chaotic space at the best of times, but after the Christmas period, it is often in a terrible state. The start of the new year is a great opportunity to get your pantry and kitchen organized. You should take everything out, throw out the things that are out of date (you might be amazed at how old items at the back are!) And clean all of the surfaces (including the fridge).
To give yourself more space to work with in the kitchen and to prevent things from getting out of hand again, you could put up some new shelves. This is a relatively easy job as you can find instructions online and use Dewalt power tools to make the work quick and easy.
Freshen Up the Bathroom
The bathroom can very quickly become worn and dated, so it is always an area that can be freshened up. You do not need a total remodelling to do this as there are some affordable ideas like a new shower head, floating shelves, plants and new light fixtures.
Feel better, look better, and save money with these inexpensive projects to improve your home in the new year. These are a few of the best home DIY projects to take on in the new year that should improve your home and life.
